the question in mind when the piece was initially conceived was: what will
happen when you put several artists of different disciplines in a room
together, and let each of them add to and destroy an ever-changing organism of
art?

people in the mediums of film, dance, music, puppetry, fine art, and writing
are welcome; the five-day piece serves as an experiment in art
as well as a spiritual endurance performance for those who choose to
stick it out for the full length of time.

the world is so full of advertisement eye candy, tedious forms,
and other everyday distractions, that the artist eventually forgets
what it is to be an artist.

this piece is an attempt to break these draining habits, and allow
the artist to refocus energies, not necessarily to create a masterpiece
in five days, but to get familiar once again with being an art creature.
salient lockup is a five day performance in which two collaborators
are "locked in a room" under the constraints of only two rules: they
cannot pre-compose their material, and they cannot leave for five
days. the idea of the piece is that members of the art community will
come in during the five days for specified times and contribute to the
ongoing performance / installation with their own ideas and talents.
